This April, Picnic Kit says farewell to Camilla Beach as she jets off to the UK to pursue her next adventure and hello to Melanie Pencs, an HR, Marketing and Events specialist guru and now the new owner of Picnic Kit.
Camilla, a country girl at heart (originally from Central Western NSW) came up with the idea for Picnic Kit in 2019 after noticing a gap in the market for luxurious pop-up picnics in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. She ran Picnic Kit on the side, in addition to her full-time gig in Advertising. Camilla is now making the move to the UK in order to explore new career opportunities and decided to hand Picnic Kit over to a worthy successor.
‘I can’t wait to see how Picnic Kit grows, there is so much potential! I feel so lucky to have met such incredible people, from clients to collaborators. I am sad to say goodbye but I can’t set up picnics remotely from the UK and I know that Melanie will slot right in - she already has so many amazing ideas for Picnic Kit.’
‘I have absolutely loved working with our amazing clients at Picnic Kit and seeing my hobby grow from a few rugs, cushions and tables to being featured on the Sunrise morning show. I really wanted to ensure that the next owner of Picnic Kit was the right fit and Melanie is perfect, I can’t wait to see the direction she takes it.’ Camilla said.
Melanie Pencs has lived in Sydney for over twelve years and has a background in events, catering, marketing and HR. She is a self-described ‘foodie’ and is expanding Picnic Kit’s offering to include entirely catered for picnics.
‘I am excited to join Picnic Kit and bring my new ideas to the table (so to speak). Camilla has done an incredible job and I look forward to carrying the Picnic Kit legacy forward. Picnics are the perfect set up for any occasion, from hens parties, engagements, business events or even baby showers, that’s the beauty of them. I wish Camilla the best of luck in her next adventure.’
Melanie has exciting ideas for the future of Picnic Kit and will expand the remit of Picnic Kit to include bespoke catering options, possible cinematic experiences and even whole day picnic events including games and other unique experiences. Picnic Kit is now based in Menai and will deliver to Engadine, Sutherland, Cronulla, Kurnell, Como, Kirrawee, Oatley and surrounding suburbs.
